How to Service and Repair Coil Springs and Shock Absorber Assembly on 2006 Ford F-150?

The coil spring and shock absorber service requires first removing the complete shock absorber and spring assembly. A suitable spring compressor allows users to compress the spring until tension frees up from the shock absorber. Using the holding feature prevents rod rotation when you install or remove the nut so you should grip the shock absorber rod to take out the nut which you need to throw away. When executing the new nut installation follow the torque sequence of 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.). Move on to remove sequentially the shock absorber upper-mount together with its insulator and dust-tube. After releasing the spring compressor you should remove the coil spring. The final assembly requires following the recommended torque values as well as using components with the same part number to ensure both performance and safety standards.
