2006 Ford Focus A/C Accumulator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the Suction A/C Accumulator on 2006 Ford Focus?
A: A service technician must start suction accumulator work by hoisting the vehicle to neutral position for refrigerant recovery. Start by removing the lower radiator air deflector and disconnecting the compressor manifold by separating it from the suction accumulator. Cut off the O-ring seal and secure the connection at 8 Nm (71 lb-in) torque when reinstalling it. Service technicians must first tighten the suction accumulator bracket nut to 7 Nm (62 lb-in) during installation before they remove the two securing bolts. They should reinstall these bolts with a torque of 7 Nm (62 lb-in). The suction accumulator requires removal of its evaporator outlet line fitting along with its O-ring seals. The installation process begins with an opposite sequence of steps starting from the suction accumulator removal while applying adequate clean PAG oil to the refrigerant system for lubrication. The refrigerant system requires evacuation and leak testing and charging as the final step.
