2005 Ford Focus A/C Accumulator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the A/C Accumulator in the HVAC System on 2005 Ford Focus?
A: Service of the suction accumulator in HVAC demands that you mount the vehicle on a hoist to neutral while operating the gear selector. Retrieve refrigerant while you also remove the lower radiator air deflector but keep it close by. Proceed by disconnecting the compressor manifold and tube assembly from the suction accumulator and dispose of its existing O-ring seal. Start by breaking the suction accumulator bracket nut and bolts before removing the evaporator outlet line fitting from the suction accumulator while discarding both O-ring seals. Reinstall the suction accumulator according to the removal procedure while using new O-ring seals which receive lubrication using clean mineral oil. Before refilling the system apply the proper quantity of clean PAG refrigerant compressor oil F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or equivalent oil with Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B. Evacuate the refrigerant system while using the correct oil F73Z-19577-AA (Motorcraft YN-9-A) to lubricate R-134a refrigerant system O-ring seals but never apply this oil as compressor lubricant.
