2007 Ford Focus A/C Accumulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service the Suction A/C Accumulator on 2007 Ford Focus?
A: Placing the vehicle on a hoist in NEUTRAL position is the first step to service the suction accumulator. The first step involves collecting the refrigerant while the technician dismantles the lower radiator air deflector. First disconnect the compressor manifold and tube assembly from the suction accumulator while throwing away its O-ring seal before you tighten the connection to a torque of 8 Nm (71 lb-in). You must first remove the suction accumulator bracket nut while tightening it to 7 Nm (62 lb-in) for installation before taking out the two suction accumulator bracket bolts to tighten them to 7 Nm (62 lb-in) when reinstalling. Separate the suction accumulator fitting of the evaporator outlet line while discarding both O-ring seals. The technician should proceed with suction accumulator installation by following the removal steps in reverse order while using the correct amount of clean PAG oil to lubricate the refrigerant system. The end of the process includes evacuation and leak tests followed by system charging.
