- Q: How to service the rear bumper cover on 2006 Ford Freestyle?A: You need to start bumper service on the Freestyle by taking out the rear lamps and then separating the rear parking aid connector if your car has it. First remove the five rear bumper cover scrivets which reside under the liftgate opening then detach the two pin-type retainers from the beam bottom surface. The two bolts holding the bumper cover to its mounting reinforcements need to be removed. The rear bumper cover should slightly lift before the separation occurs at the forward outboard attachment area with the vehicle body. Check the mounting reinforcements for damage before moving forward with the repairs since damage will require replacements. The installation process ends by performing the reverse actions which were used for removal.
