2006 Ford Fusion Air Injection Pump Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Properly Maintain the Air Injection Pump in a 2006 Ford Fusion?
A: Service of the secondary air pump begins with hoisting the vehicle while keeping it in neutral mode before disconnecting the battery ground cable. First remove underbody cover screws when needed then disconnect the electrical connector from the secondary air pump. The service involves freeing up the 3 wire harness retainers when secondary air pump hoses are present. Start by detaching the air pump hose from its air inlet duct by first releasing the clamp then removing the pipe from the secondary air valve. A crimp style clamp prevents hoses from leaving the secondary air pump thus it becomes necessary to extract the entire assembly by removing those 3 bolts. You should implement new bolt torque to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft) when you install the assembly through the reversed disassembly sequence.
