Start by disconnecting the battery ground cable followed by the removal of 7 underbody cover screws whenever needed. Start by unfastening the starter solenoid wire nut then put the wire aside before tightening it to 5 Nm (44 lb-in) when reinstalling. Start by moving the terminal cover of the starter solenoid battery connector to access the nut which should be removed from the cable. Set the cable aside afterward while tightening it to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) during reinstallation. Securely detach the wiring harness retainer from the starter motor stud bolts at the top and bottom position before uninstalling the two starter motor stud bolts which will enable starter removal. Observe these steps when reinstalling because you must torque the stud bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft) before you finish the installation with the reverse order of removal. After completion of maintenance always secure protective caps because heavy gauge leads directly connect with the battery.
