How to service the starter motor on Ford Fusion?

You should start the starter motor service by putting the vehicle in NEUTRAL position at a hoist stand. The starter service begins with unplugging the battery ground cable to safeguard against electrical dangers. The seven underbody cover screws need removal if they exist. The starter motor solenoid wire should be detached by untwisting its nut before you put the wire aside to reattach later while keeping it tight at 5 Nm (44 lb-in). Start by moving away the terminal cover of the starter motor solenoid battery cable before removing the cable nut and placing it aside with 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) torque when reinstalling. Take away the wiring harness retainer from the starting motor stud bolt and reserve it with the wiring harness. Disconnect the starter motor bolts and stud bolt as well as the starter unit but remember to tighten these bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft) when you replace the components.
