All operations require the vehicle to be in NEUTRAL gear position on a hoist to service the coolant pump of a 2.3L engine. The servicework begins with draining the cooling system. Start the procedure by unboltng the three coolant pump pulley bolts before removing the accessory drive belt. First unfasten the three bolts from the coolant pump pulley then remove the pulley and reinstall it by tightening it to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). You should remove first the coolant pump itself and its three bolts and throw away the O-ring seal. Anticipate the procedure by wetting the O-ring seal with fresh coolant then securing it to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) torque. First finish by reinstalling the pump before performing a complete cooling system fluid fill-up and bleeding operation.
