You should reduce the tension on the parking brake cable during this service. Perform the following tasks to disconnect the rear parking brake cable from the front parking brake cable at the equalizer and separate it from the body bracket. The boot should be connected to the conduit end fitting and strand end fitting while a clamp should be properly installed on the strand end fitting (t-end) to prevent exposure on the wheel end of the parking brake cable. Disembark the parking brake cable retaining clip while disconnecting its rear cable from the brake caliper. After removing the parking brake cable bracket bolt begin tightening it to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.) when reinstallation occurs.
