2006 Ford Mustang Power Steering Cooler Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Power Steering Cooler on 2006 Ford Mustang?
A: Service and repair of the power steering cooler requires placing the vehicle in neutral position on a hoist. Follow proper precautions to stop contaminants from harming the power steering system because they will reduce component lifespan. Starting the process involves removing the clamp and disconnection of the cooler-to-reservoir hose which allows fluid to drain into a proper container. You must then unclamp and separate the return line-to-cooler hose next. Use wrenches to first unfasten the stabilizer bar bracket pin-type retainer of the cooler pressure line then uninstall the two cooler nuts and remove the cooler before securing the new installation with 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.). You must follow the opposite process of removal and add fluid into the power steering system.
