2006 Ford Ranger Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the vacuum brake booster on 2006 Ford Ranger?
A: Service of the vacuum brake booster begins with removing the brake master cylinder. First compress the clamp followed by vacuum hose removal from the brake booster check valve. First disconnect the stoplamp switch electrical connector before taking out the battery ground cable. Start service on the brake booster push rod by opening access to the push rod cotter pin through removing the protective pin cover and remover the pin. First gently pull out the stoplight switch and the brake booster push rod connected to the brake pedal pin. Then remove the brake booster push rod bushing. First remove the bulkhead sound insulator and afterwards separate the four brake booster nuts until the brake booster becomes fully removable. Tighten the nuts to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.) during installation because this is required for the reverse removal steps.
