A suitable jack should stabilize the lower arm before proceeding with work. Before eliminating the upper ball joint nut and pinch bolt from the wheel spindle/knuckle you need to stabilize it to avoid tilting. Discard these pieces when they separate the ball joint from the wheel spindle/knuckle unit. The ball joint nut and pinch bolt need to be tightened to 63 Nm (46 ft. lbs.) for successful reinstallment. After removal of the upper arm flag bolts together with two nuts and set shims, ensure proper installation of the new upper arm nuts to a torque specification of 133 Nm (98 ft. lbs.) at curb height.
