How to service the upper intake manifold on 2006 Ford Ranger?

Service of the upper intake manifold begins with disconnecting the battery ground cable. Start by disconnecting the air cleaner outlet pipe followed by the removal of bolt and snow shield. You need to cut the connections between accelerator cable and speed control cable and return spring before detaching the cable from accelerator bracket along with speed control cable and accelerator cable from brake booster vacuum hose. Locate and detach the throttle position sensor and idle air control valve wire connectors and wire retainer followed by the removal of two vacuum hoses. Unfasten the 42-pin wiring harness retainer from the stud bolt before taking out the nut and stud bolt while placing the 42-pin wiring harness and bracket to the side. Start by taking off the bracket nut of the oil indicator tube as well as the upper intake manifold support bracket before you disconnect both the brake booster vacuum hose and the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve tube. As a last step you should take out the bolts, stud bolt and upper intake manifold and dispose of the gaskets.
