    A: The repair process for the intake manifold starts with draining the engine coolant before moving forward. Service and repairs on the intake manifold start with air cleaner outlet pipe separation followed by disconnecting the acceleration control cable and speed control cable (if equipped) and throttle position (TP) sensor, manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor, idle air control (IAC) valve, vapor purge tube quick connect coupling, engine vacuum harness, brake booster hose, and crankcase breather hose, as well as coolant hoses. Remove the two engine wiring harness pin-type retainers and the pin-type retainer which attaches to the intake manifold rear. Unfasten the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) tube support bracket bolt as well as the two bolts from the EGR tube flange. The process includes detachment of the fuel supply tube while removing electrical connectors from the bracket as well as the removal of the vapor purge tube quick connect coupling. The knock sensor (KS) electrical connector should have its retainer removed along with pulling the wiring harness pushpin from the bottom of the intake manifold. The fuel supply tube spring lock requires disconnecting using a plastic scraping tool to eliminate old sealant since metal scrapers and abrasive tools must be avoided for safety purposes. The EGR flange receives two mounting bolts that need tightening to 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs) before installing the EGR tube support bracket bolt to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs). Follow with hooking up the pin-type retainers which lead to the engine control module. Afterward put back components such as the engine vacuum harness alongside the brake booster hose and crankcase breather hose as well as coolant hoses. Connect the IAC valve electrical connector along with the fuel supply tube spring lock coupling followed by interconnecting the MAP sensor and TP sensor electrical connectors.
