2006 Ford Taurus Throttle Body Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the throttle body on 2006 Ford Taurus?
A: The first step to work on the throttle body requires disconnecting the battery ground cable. The following service begins with the removal of the air cleaner outlet tube together with its two pin-type retainers and the accelerator cable snow shield. The throttle body needs separate disconnections of its accelerator cable, speed control cable, and throttle return spring. The next step is to remove the two bolts which you should keep with the accelerator/speed control cable bracket before tightening the bracket to 17 Nm (13 lb-ft) when reinstalling it. The work on the throttle position sensor electrical connection starts with disconnecting it followed by removing the wiring retainer from the throttle body stud bolt. You must remove the three bolts as well as the stud bolt and throttle body unit while dismissing the outdated throttle body gasket. Carefully clean all areas where sealing will occur before placing a new throttle body gasket and tightening it to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). The final phase of installation requires you to reverse the steps of removal.
