To fix the steering column shaft, depower the SRS, place the vehicle on a hoist, and take off the intermediate shaft slider bolt, and screw it to 35 Nm when reattached. Install new bearing plate nuts, replace and tighten the steering column-to-intermediate shaft and the intermediate shaft-to-steering gear bolts. Undo the removal process, making sure that no rotary of the steering column shaft.
