The vehicle should be set to neutral mode for hoisting procedures and the intermediate shaft slider bolt should be removed then bolted again with a torque of 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.). The service requires replacement of the steering column-to-intermediate shaft bolt along with disposal of the original bolt while tightening the new bolt to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.). The replacement of the intermediate shaft-to-steering gear bolt requires installation of a new bolt while discarding the old one and torquing it to a value of 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.). Use two new intermediate shaft bearing plate nuts after taking away the old hardware and plate components and tighten these nuts to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.). Reverse the removal procedure by first checking that the steering column shaft remains stationary while disconnecting to protect the Clock Spring.
