The first step should involve taking out the steering wheel shank along with its tilt handle before eliminating the screws that secure the bottom steering column shroud. The first step involves removing the steering wheel along with setting the shift selector boot to the side. You should twist off the cap from the ignition switch lock cylinder until you can release the tabs for removing the passive anti-theft system (PATS) transceiver off of the steering column. A PATS transceiver thermsitor must have its electrical connector detached along with removal of the device. Use a 1/8-inch drill bit to drill the lock cylinder retaining pin until it reaches the inside of the ignition lock key slot then finish with a 3/8-inch drill to make the ignition lock cylinder break free. After removing the ignition lock cylinder and shavings from the steering column cleaning should be performed to remove all debris while checking for column damage. Reinstall the components according to the reverse order of removal.
