How to service and repair the starter motor on 2006 Mercury Mariner?

To service the starter motor position the vehicle in neutral on a hoist. Disconnect the battery ground, take out and put in the starter solenoid wire nut 5 Nm, and the battery cable nut. Take out the wiring harness, ground strap, and starter motor bolts, tighten them as required. Installation is done by reversing the process.
