2006 Mercury Montego Evaporator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the evaporator core on 2006 Mercury Montego?
A: Service of the evaporator core should begin by testing for leaks when a leak is suspected before core removal. The replacement of a new receiver/drier becomes crucial only when failure clues appear from a damaged or contaminated A/C compressor or receiver/drier damage. The service process starts by removing the air inlet duct together with the heater core. The procedure starts with removing the eight upper screws holding the evaporator core cover in place before disconnecting the electrical connector of the blower motor speed control apparatus or blower motor resistor and unattaching the wire harness from the evaporator core cover. Begin by removing two screws securing the floor duct before taking out the floor duct and then proceed to eliminate thirteen screws from the evaporator core cover. Finally, remove the evaporator core. To install swap the original removal order and apply the right amount of fresh PAG oil to the refrigerant system.
