2006 Mercury Montego Heater Core Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the heater core on 2006 Mercury Montego?
A: The first step for servicing or repairing the heater core requires a pressure leak test when leakage is suspected. The heater core service starts with removing the instrument panel and separating the dash panel seal from the heater core tubes. The heater core tube bracket needs two screws to be taken out before extracting the bracket from its location. Remove the electrical connectors of the evaporator discharge air temperature sensor along with the left-hand (LH) temperature blend door actuator. You must remove the three screws that keep the LH temperature blend door actuator in position then extract the whole unit. Unfasten the three screws on the heater core cover before removing the cover itself. Finally, remove the heater core. Reinstallation of the new heater core requires the reverse order of uninstallation procedures.
