- Q: How to Remove and Replace the Brake Disc on 2007 Ford Crown Victoria?A: The air suspension system needs to be deactivated by activating the air suspension service switch within the luggage compartment before starting the brake rotor/disc replacement work because unexpected changes in air spring pressure can result in personal injury risks. Set the vehicle on a hoist in neutral position. Support the brake caliper brake pads and anchor plate assembly separately from the brake hose because hanging them may cause damage. Set the brake caliper anchor plate assembly aside while supporting it with mechanic's wire by removing its two bolts. During reinstallation of these components the screws need to be tightened to 118 ft. lbs. (160 Nm). Place a wheel stud mark on the brake disc to achieve the minimum runout potential during brake disc assembly. The brake disc will require rust penetrant on its mating surfaces to make removal easier. Take out the brake disc retention ring before removing the brake disc and dispose of the former ring. A new retention ring should be installed then brake disc and wheel hub must be cleaned with brake parts cleaner and anti-seize lubrication should be applied to the hub mounting surface to protect from future corrosion.
