2007 Ford E-150 Exhaust Pipe Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service the Exhaust Pipe on a Van/Wagon on 2007 Ford E-150?
A: The service of Van/Wagon exhaust intermediate pipes requires that you wait until the exhaust completely cools down to protect yourself especially in the area around the catalytic converter which reaches extreme temperatures swiftly. The use of lubricants that contain oil or grease should be avoided on the isolators because they will deteriorate rubber material which could lead to separation from the exhaust hanger bracket. Start by engaging NEUTRAL at the vehicle while setting it on a hoist for work. The muffler and tailpipe assembly needs support through usage of a safety stand. Disassemble the front muffler and tailpipe hanger isolators as well as the exhaust intermediate pipe. Loosen the Torca® clamp nut linking the exhaust intermediate pipe to the catalytic converter while keeping the clamp installed and discard the exhaust intermediate pipe and muffler and tailpipe assembly from the converter. Proceed by next loosening the Torca® clamp nut that ties the muffler and tailpipe assembly to the exhaust intermediate pipe while keeping the clamp installed before taking off the exhaust intermediate pipe from the muffler and tailpipe assembly. Special attention must be given to Torca® clamp direction when reinstalling the exhaust intermediate pipe or muffler and tailpipe because spot welds should be ground and all previous clamps removed. Install the Torca® clamp by turning it into place the same direction as before with a new Torca® clamp while spot welding it before tightening all clamps to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs).
