2007 Ford E-250 Vehicle Speed Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the Vehicle Speed Sensor for the Turbine Shaft and Intermediate Shaft on 2007 Ford E-250?
A: The first step to service and repair the Turbine Shaft Speed (TSS) Sensor and Intermediate Shaft Speed Sensor requires placing the vehicle into neutral state and hoisting it before proceeding. The suitable high-lift transmission jack allows transmission lowering to achieve access. Start by removing two wire harness retainers from the rear crossmember then placing the wire harness to the side. You must first remove the LH crossmember brackets and nuts before removing the two RH crossmember brackets and their attached nuts. First lower the transmission until you reach the TSS and intermediate shaft speed sensor then disconnect its electrical connector. Check that the sensor area contains no foreign substance then remove the TSS and intermediate shaft combination speed sensor by unfastening its bolt. You should apply automatic transmission fluid on the O-ring before putting the sensor in place then securing it with the bolt by tightening it to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.). Install the LH crossmember bracket then bolt on its two nuts while maintaining a torque of 81 Nm (60 ft. lbs.). Following this, raise the transmission until the crossmember sits properly and reconnect its electrical connector before securing the two LH crossmember bracket nuts to 81 Nm (60 ft. lbs.). Afterward install the RH crossmember bracket followed by tightening its two nuts to 81 Nm (60 ft. lbs.). The wire harness needs to be reinstalled after securing it with the two retaining clips positioned at the back of the crossmember.
