- Q: How to service and repair the right-hand (RH) exhaust manifold on 2007 Ford Edge?A: A proper service or repair of the right-hand (RH) exhaust manifold requires removal of the RH catalytic converter first. To begin you should detach the RH heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connector before removing the six nuts which fix the RH exhaust manifold along with disposing both the nuts and the gasket. Prepare the RH exhaust manifold before removing and throwing out the six exhaust manifold studs that belong to the RH side. The exhaust manifold mating surface on the cylinder head should get cleaned only with a plastic scraper and metal surface preparation according to the product directions while avoiding any usage of metal scrapers or wire brushes or abrasive instruments because they can form gashes and scratches that result in leaks. The installation procedure requires new RH exhaust manifold studs which must be tightened to 9 foot pounds (12 Nm). With a new gasket installed the RH exhaust manifold should be secured using six new nuts that need to be tightened according to specified sequence to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs). Reconnect the RH HO2S electrical connector when you reinstall the right-hand catalytic converter.
