2007 Ford Expedition Coolant Reservoir Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the coolant reservoir on 2007 Ford Expedition?
A: Safety must be ensured by never unscrewing the coolant pressure relief cap from the hot engine operating cooling system since the system maintains pressure that could generate strong steam and liquid release. Start by opening the cooling system pressure using counterclockwise turns on the pressure relief cap before removing the cap completely. You should use hose clamp pliers to fix the coolant return hose before using a suitable suction device to drain coolant from the degas bottle. First disconnect the inlet coolant hose of the degas bottle from the radiator before removing the air cleaner element. Separate the clip while you disconnect the quick connect coupling of the coolant return hose from the degas bottle. You need to remove two bolts which keep the degas bottle/lower air cleaner housing in place after which you should tighten them down to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.) when reinstalling. The degas bottle needs coolant insertion during the conclusion of the process.
