2007 Ford Expedition Parking Brake Cable Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and replace the rear left parking brake cable on 2007 Ford Expedition?
A: Before starting the replacement of the rear left parking brake cable you must relieve the pressure on the parking brake cable system. A hoist should support the vehicle when it sits in neutral gear. You should disconnect the left rear cable from the equalizer and extract the conduit from its bracket by folding two tabs. Install the parking brake cable retainer spring properly after verifying the cables run between suspension links. When replacing the left rear cable you must detach it from its retaining clip and then remove the parking brake cable retainer spring as well as disconnecting the wire from the ABS sensor which might exist. You need to remove the wireform bracket retaining bolt before taking out the bracket along with other components. Lastly reinstall the bracket while tightening the bolt to 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.). Push the retainer so the conduit becomes loose then detach the cable end fitting from the parking brake shoe lever. The installation ends by performing the reverse steps of removal.
