2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac EGR Valve Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service the EGR Valve System Module on 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac?
A: Service of the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system module starts with disconnecting electrical and vacuum connectors at the EGR system module. The next step involves disconnection of the EGR system module upper fitting to the exhaust manifold tube while tightening all bolts to 40 Nm during reinstallation. The new EGR module gasket must be fitted so that the side with the elevated circle points toward the intake manifold during installation. First remove the bolts and the EGR system module together with the gasket then throw away the removed gasket. The EGR system module requires cleaning of all its sealing surfaces since the surfaces are made of delicate metal. Install the new EGR system module gasket by following the removal procedure but tighten it to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
