2007 Ford F-150 Alternator Parts Q&A
Q: How to service the alternator on 2007 Ford F-150?
A: Service of the alternator must begin by taking out the battery. Place the tensioner of the front end accessory drive belt into a counterclockwise rotation to set aside the accessory belt. Begin by disconnecting the electrical connector from the generator then place the generator B+ protective boot to the aside and remove the nut to disconnect the B+ terminal while tightening it to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) during reinstallation. After removing the nut you should set the A/C line bracket aside before reinstallation by tightening it to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). The procedure for the generator B+ terminal utilizes a similar step of nut removal to put the generator harness bracket aside containing a 25 Nm (18 lb-ft) torque setting during reinstall. Tighten the two stud bolts of the generator machine to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft) before reinstalling them. Lastly remove the bolt while taking the generator and re-tighten its bolt to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft) when installing it back. Apply the reverse steps of removal to finish the process.
