2007 Ford F-350 Super Duty Automatic Transmission Filter Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the In-Line Automatic Transmission Filter on 2007 Ford F-350 Super Duty?
A: Service and repair operations on the in-line transmission fluid filter need specific filter use to avoid transmission damage. For transmissions that received an overhauling service along with an initially installed in-line filter, replace it with a new one. Otherwise, use a new in-line filter kit. When there are no internal repairs needed you should avoid installing any filter. Any new or authorized remanufactured transmission installation requires using an in-line transmission fluid filter. Set the device on a hoist in neutral mode and remove lower right splash shield pushpin before setting the shield aside. Begin filter install by cutting the tubing shield before removing the clamp and making a section cut along the return line. Before adding the filter users should ensure that it goes into the fluid cooler return line pointing away from the transmitter and creating fluid movement toward the transmitter. The filter requires installation only with rubber hoses and steel tubing which maintain less than 60° bend angle. The correct hose length should be chosen to install the filter followed by tight clamp installation. Install the lower splash shield between filter and lower radiator core support then secure it using the pushpin for mounting. Wipe down a portion of the transmission fluid pan that is visible before you attach the sticker to it. Finish by pouring clean automatic transmission fluid to match specifications then check proper functionality of the system and search for any leaking from the filter.
