2007 Ford F-350 Super Duty Brake Pads Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the front brake pads on 2007 Ford F-350 Super Duty?
A: The front brake pad service and repair process should start with approved DOT 3 brake fluid because this stops permanent damage to brake hardware. The first step requires inspecting the brake master cylinder reservoir for fluid level and removing liquid until reaching a half-full amount if needed. Place the vehicle on a hoist system when it should be in neutral gear. Use mechanic's wire to secure the caliper while you remove its two bolts but avoid thrusting the tool inside the sight hole because it threatens piston and boot damage. The brake pad inspection should check pad thickness above the metal backbone. Replace the pads when they reach this specified length in complete axle sets because new pads are needed. When present, users must take away the four retraction clips for disposal. A new brake disc must replace the existing one when the front brake disc thickness measurement fails specification testing. The installation process requires operators to avoid exposing pad lining material to any contaminants including grease oil brake fluid or other substances while using all hardware items that come with the brake pad kit including four new retracting clips. When compressing the caliper pistons use a suitable tool applying a worn brake pad to protect the piston and boots. First tighten the bottom caliper bolt before moving to the top bolt which must receive torque while positioning the caliper pin boots correctly to shield guide pins from damage. The brake caliper should be positioned before installing both bolts which require 76 Nm torque (56 ft. lbs.) for F-250 and F-350 models and 63 Nm torque (46 ft. lbs.) for F-450 and F-550 models. Test the brake operation following fluid addition of clean brake fluid into the brake master cylinder reservoir.
