2007 Ford F-350 Super Duty Rear Crossmember Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Rear Crossmember for the Torqshift Automatic Transaxle/Transmission on 2007 Ford F-350 Super Duty?
A: Service or repair operations on the Torqshift automatic transaxle/transmission transmission support crossmember can only begin when the vehicle sits in neutral position on a hoist setup. A high-lift transmission jack that suits the application should be used to hold up the transmission. The repair of the Torqshift automatic transaxle/transmission starts with harness disconnection from the crossmember and transmission mount nut removal. The left-hand (LH) crossmember bolts and nuts need to be removed. However, leave the specified bolt and nut in place while you loosen them. Unscrew and detach the bolts and nuts from the right-hand (RH) crossmember bracket followed by removing this bracket. Starting from the rear side first disassemble the RH crossmember bolts and nuts before proceeding to separate the LH crossmember bolt and nut as well as the crossmember itself. Before attaching the crossmember install it against the transmission mount then place the nut arbitrarily. Begin by placing the LH crossmember bolts followed by tightening them to 81 Nm (60 ft. lbs.) and later placing the RH crossmember bolts while tightening them to the same torque value. The installation procedure starts with placing the bracket before performing a loose bolt installation phase followed by crossmember bolt tightening to 81 Nm (60 ft. lbs.) and rear insulator nut torquing to 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs.). Reset the wire harness connection at the crossmember's rear section.
