The operator should first extract the dust shield off the steering gear housing before unlatching the intermediate shaft-to-steering gear bolt to remove the intermediate shaft for reinstallation applying 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) torque. The installation process ends by following the exact reverse steps of the removal process.
