2007 Ford Fusion Battery Cable Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the battery cables on 2007 Ford Fusion?
A: A proper repair of battery cables starts by removing the battery tray first. You need to uninstall the bolt along with the nut and battery hold down bracket before starting work. Be sure to tighten these components to 10 Nm (89 lb-in) when reattaching them. Install the battery cable body ground terminal after moving the bolt aside and tighten it to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). After nut removal you should position the BJB cable terminal aside and tighten it to 8 Nm (71lb-in). After removing the starter solenoid terminal cover with its associated nut the battery cable starter solenoid terminal can be placed aside and secured at 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) torque during reassembly. When installing or replacing the battery cable transaxle ground terminal you should tighten it to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). The three battery cable locators must be freed from the LH valve cover's stud bolt and the transaxle stud component. Systematically reveal the generator protective cover then remove its nut before relocating the generator B+ terminal properly to achieve 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) torque when reattaching it. The completion process involves taking off battery cables followed by executing the opposite instructions for reinstallation.
