2007 Ford Fusion Oil Pan Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the oil pan to prevent engine failure on 2007 Ford Fusion?
A: Maintenance and repairs of the oil pan need clean working conditions to stop foreign objects from triggering engine breakdowns. Put the vehicle on a hoisting system in neutral position before you take off the LH catalytic converter. Uninstall the drain plug from the engine oil container then wash and reinstall it tightly to 26 Nm (19 ft. lbs.). When preparing for oil pan installation mark the location of stud bolts first then remove 7 oil pan-to-transaxle screws, 5 stud bolts and the oil pan together with its gasket for disposal. The installation process requires the use of a plastic scraping tool to prepare sealing surfaces where customers should also clean every surface with metal surface cleaner before installing a new oil pan gasket. Post silicon sealant application on designated spots around the specified areas the operator should install the oil pan while tightening 10 bolts and 5 stud bolts by hand. Tighten the two oil pan-to-transaxle bolts to 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) followed by the specified sequence installation and torquing of engine oil pan-to-engine bolts and stud bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). You should install the LH catalytic converter along with filling the engine with clean engine oil.
