  A: Starting automatic transmission shifter service and repair work requires placing the car in neutral position on a hoist system. The automatic transmission shift lever cable must be taken out from the bracket alongside the automatic transmission shift lever before discarding the clip. Start by uninstalling the center console automatic transmission shift lever trim followed by a screw removal from the two screws which hold the center console top finish panel. First remove the driver and passenger center console kick panels before taking out two screws at the bottom of the console bin and two more screws at the front of the console. You should install the center console automatic transmission shift lever trim by using a new plastic clip for the automatic transmission shift lever cable in the bracket followed by attaching the automatic transmission shift lever cable to the automatic transmission shift lever and using the automatic transmission shift lever cable adjustment lock to secure it. Check that the automatic transmission shift lever cable has an appropriate position setting.
