2007 Ford Mustang Transmission Pan Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the Transmission Pan and Automatic Transmission Filter on 2007 Ford Mustang?
A: You should start the automatic transmission fluid filter service by ensuring the automobile remains in neutral and elevated on a hoist. You must drain transmission fluid through the drain plug removal before discarding the gasket. First disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) connectors with retaining clip from the right-hand pan rail and place the connectors securely to the side. The removal of the HO2S connector takes place at the front section of the transmission pan rail. A safe method to reuse the transmission fluid pan gasket requires examining it for damage before reinstalling it. You must then take off the transmission fluid pan alongside its gasket before throwing out the old transmission fluid filter. To install the transmission fluid pan it needs thorough cleaning with magnetic inspection completed. Dry automatic transmission fluid should be applied onto the O-ring seals of the new transmission filter to safeguard them from damage and achieve proper seating. Use 10 Nm torque while installing the filter so that it remains securely fastened with screws. Return the fluid pan magnet to the transmission fluid pan before installing the pan and its gasket with screws kept loose until complete installation. Apply crisscross force to tighten the screws until they reach 11 Nm torque value (8 ft. lbs). The HO2S connector needs reinstallation at the front of the transmission pan rail followed by the sensor wire retaining clip placement on the right pan rail side. Install the drain plug with a new gasket before fastening it to 26 Nm (19 ft. lbs) torque. The removal of the fluid level indicator plug requires a 3/16-inch Allen key that must be used while holding the drain plug with a wrench to perform a fluid level check.
