2007 Ford Ranger Dimmer Switch Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the headlamp dimmer switch on 2007 Ford Ranger?
A: A service or repair of the headlamp dimmer switch requires disconnecting the battery ground cable. The ignition key must be inserted to RUN position before using a punch to release the ignition switch lock cylinder tab and pulling out the cylinder. When present remove both the tilt release lever in addition to the handle. The procedure requires removal of three column cover screws followed by removal of both steering column shrouds. After detaching the plugs from the multi-function switch the installation process requires screw removal from the switch and withdrawal of the component. The new multi-function switch installation requires screw tightening at 3 Nm (27 inch lbs.) followed by the reverse order of removal to achieve a complete installation.
