- Q: How to service and repair the Fan Shroud and cooling fan motor for the 2.3L engine on 2007 Ford Ranger?A: The service or repair of the 2.3L engine cooling fan motor and shroud needs battery ground cable removal when A/C is present in the vehicle. You should proceed with removing the air intake tube from its position. Remove the electric cooling fan electrical connector first when A/C is present then complete the removal of bolts to position the power steering fluid reservoir aside while tightening it to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs) before putting it back. The electric fan assembly and shroud can be removed after disconnecting the mounting bolts then raising them above the vehicle while applying 7 Nm (62 inch lbs) torque during reassembly. The electric cooling fan can be removed by unbolting it while reinstalling these components at 8 Nm (71 inch lbs). During reinstallation tighten all bolts to 8 Nm (71 inch lbs) that you removed from the fan shroud along with electric cooling fan bracket and electric cooling fan nuts. The process ends with executing the removal procedure in reverse order.
