2007 Ford Ranger Coolant Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the coolant reservoir for the 2.3L degas bottle on 2007 Ford Ranger?
A: Prior to servicing the coolant reservoir of the 2.3L degas bottle start with safety by never removing the coolant pressure relief cap when the engine is hot and operational because the cooling system maintains pressure that produces strong steam and hot liquid releases. Proceed by twisting the cap counterclockwise one half turn before removing it. The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve heater hose requires clamp application from hose clamp pliers, while using a suitable suction device to siphon coolant from the degas bottle. By following the procedure remove the speed control servo mounting bolt and place the servo to the side while maintaining a 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs) torque when reinstalling the bolt. The first step is to drain engine coolant into a container through the EGR valve heater hose then proceed with removing the engine coolant and radiator vent hoses. The degas bottle should be reinstalled after you remove its bolt and nut while tightening to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs). To complete the procedure reinstall the degas bottle and fill it with coolant according to specifications before final installation.
