2007 Lincoln Mark LT Oil Pan Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the oil pan on 2007 Lincoln Mark LT?
A: The first step for oil pan service and repair involves hoisting the vehicle to NEUTRAL position while draining its engine oil. Untighten and remove the 4 bolts which secure the frame crossmember before detaching the starter wiring harness support bracket. Drivers of four-wheel vehicles should install a hydraulic jack underneath the front axle then secure it with straps. A temporary rotation of the steering column will create space for the isolator bolt followed by removal of the upper front axle carrier mounting bushing bolt together with the axle shaft housing carrier bushing bolt and the lower front axle carrier mounting bushing bolt. The technician should carefully lower the front axle housing to create space that does not break or damage vacuum solenoid lines during the oil pan removal process. Disassemble the 16 bolts and the oil pan with the required gaskets while inspecting for damaged oil pan gaskets which will need replacement along with replacement of oil pan-to-oil pump gaskets. To install the components properly it is essential to avoid cleaning sealing surfaces with either metallic scrapers or abrasive tools because these might create leakage paths. A plastic scraper should remove silicone gasket remover and metal surface prep from the mating surfaces after which you need to follow the drying instructions. Seal the silicone gasket between the crankshaft rear seal retainer plate-to-cylinder block while also applying sealant between the engine front cover-to-cylinder block. Thoroughly install both the oil pan gasket and the oil pan before tightening the 16 bolts one stage at a time to 2 Nm (18 inch lbs.), then to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.), and finally torqued a further 60 degrees. 4WD vehicles must first receive the front axle housing positioning accompanied by loose 3 bolts before tightly fastening the front axle housing RH, LH front, and LH rear mounting bolts at 89 Nm (66 ft. lbs.). Hang the frame crossmember then force-tighten the 4 bolts until they reach 102 Nm (75 ft. lbs.), afterward reconnect the starter wiring harness support bracket while adding clean engine oil into the crankcase.
