2007 Lincoln MKX Brake Booster Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the vacuum brake booster on 2007 Lincoln MKX?
A: The brake booster service process starts by fixing the brake pedal through its contact with the push rod in its resting state then removing the stop lamp switch to avoid any damage. Service of the vacuum brake booster requires removing the stop lamp switch first before removing the brake pedal together with bracket and brake booster and its mounting fasteners. The service starts with disconnecting the brake booster check valve from the brake booster which prevents the master cylinder seal from entering the booster before removing the master cylinder itself. Take proper measures to direct the vacuum hose assembly so the components remain unharmed while removing the brake booster manifold vacuum hose assembly from the brake booster. Take out the vacuum hose along with wire harness from their mounting studs and place them aside. The pushpin fasteners should be taken out followed by the lower instrument panel cover removal before disconnecting the brake pedal from the push rod through removing the brake booster push rod pin and clip. The four brake booster nuts require removal before installation while their torque specifications are set at 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs). Resolve the procedure by carefully installing the brake booster while performing a check of its operational readiness.
