2007 Lincoln MKZ Fuel Injector Parts Q&A

  • Q: What precautions should be taken when servicing the fuel injector and fuel rail on 2007 Lincoln MKZ?
A: During fuel injector and fuel rail servicing avoid flames and all smoking activity as the area contains dangerous highly flammable mixtures that pose a risk of personal injuries. You must reduce fuel system pressure before you detach components or tubes and you should start by disconnecting the battery ground cable. Start by taking off the upper intake manifold after which you should disconnect both the fuel tube-to-fuel rail spring lock coupling and the six fuel injector electrical connectors. You must first eliminate the four fuel rail bolts before pulling the fuel rail and injectors collectively out of the system. The twelve fuel injector O-ring seals should be replaced with new O-ring seals made from specific fuel-resistant material since standard O-rings may produce leaks. You must use clean engine oil to lubricate the new seals before placing six fuel injectors together with their clips inside the fuel rail. The upper and lower O-ring seals refuse interchangeability. Mount the fuel rail with injectors together as a single unit using four bolts which need tightening to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). Associate the six fuel injector electrical connectors and install the fuel tube-to-fuel rail spring lock coupling before reattaching the upper intake manifold followed by the battery ground cable.
