How to service the front ABS sensor on 2007 Mercury Mariner?

Service of the front ABS sensor begins after setting the vehicle in NEUTRAL position on a hoist. The electrical connection in the engine compartment needs removal before body plug replacement if the plug becomes damaged as this will require a new sensor installation even if the sensor works properly. Hold the body plug in position for release of the two tabs at right angles to the sensor wire by using a small screwdriver. To remove the front ABS sensor wire first detach it from the retainer then remove the wire-to-body bolt which needs to be tightened at 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.) during installation. After removing the front ABS sensor bolt it needs to be retightened using 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.) torque during the reassembly process. After removing the front ABS sensor bolt from the wheel knuckle continue by tightening it to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.) when replacing the bolt. It is essential to initially wipe away debris that has gathered near the sensor before conducting the front ABS sensor removal operations while also cleaning the mounting surface before reinstating the equipment.
