How to service the front ABS sensor on 2008 Mercury Mariner?

Service the front ABS sensor by adding the vehicle to a hoist in NEUTRAL mode. Remove the electrical connector which exists inside the engine compartment. Handle the grommet removal process carefully because sensor functionality will not justify new sensor installation when the grommet sustains any damage. A small screwdriver can access the two fixings under the grommet through specific grommet rotation until they reach positions perpendicular to the sensor wire. The operation requires removal of the front ABS sensor harness from its retainer and the harness-to-body bolt. Tighten the new bolt to 9 Nm (80 lb-inch). After dismantling the harness-to-strut bracket bolt you must tighten the replacement bolt to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft). Disassemble the wheel knuckle front ABS sensor bolt before tightening the new bolt to 9 Nm (80 lb-inch). The sensor requires cleaning of adhering foreign substances before installation starts with a careful cleaning of the mounting base.
