2007 Mercury Mariner Intake Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the intake manifold on 2007 Mercury Mariner?
A: Service of the intake manifold starts by placing the vehicle into NEUTRAL gear on a hoist system. Start by removing both the fuel rail together with the throttle body. The first step is to extract both the oil level indicator and tube before unwiring the intake manifold vacuum hose with its pin-type retainer which should then be placed aside. A technician can disconnect the power brake booster vacuum tube through the quick release locking ring after depressing it then pulling the tube off its fitting. Safely remove the fuel vapor return hose from the intake manifold before removing the three accelerator cable bracket bolts that you will place to the side when reinstalling and tightening them to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). Detach the wiring connectors of the IAC motor, swirl control valve and knock sensor (KS) with its pin-type retainer and temperature manifold absolute pressure (TMAP) sensor and oil pressure sender while ensuring to separate the wiring harness pin-type retainer. The repair requires identifying and marking different bolt sizes which you will need to reinstall properly. Eight bolts must be removed to set the intake manifold aside thus revealing the crankcase vent hose clamp and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) tube for removal. Disengage the hose clamp before taking out the crankcase vent hose while unscrewing the EGR tube until it reaches 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.) torque. Last step includes removing the intake manifold with its gaskets then reinstall by following the initial order while inspecting and replacing gaskets when required and tightening bolts to 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).
