  • Q: What Precautions Should Be Taken When Servicing the Seat Heater and Seat Control Seat Switch on 2007 Mercury Mariner?
    A: Safety glasses must be worn before servicing seat heater switch or seat control switch systems to prevent injuries that arise from accidental air bag deployment. The connector probing of air bag modules and pretensioners should never occur because this will activate their deployment potential leading to personal injuries. In order to handle the safety belt pretensioner safely there must be protective safety glasses worn due to its classification as a pyrotechnic device. First activate the power disconnection sequence of the supplemental restraint system (SRS). Start by taking off the seat control switch knob after removing the recliner handle cover. Constructors should remove three screws that fasten the outboard front seat side cushion shield. Disconnect the heated seat switch electrical connector together with the seat control switch electrical connector when they are present. Remove the seat control switch by proceeding through its removal process while you decide to detach the outboard side cushion shield clips if needed. You should also take out the three screws that support the seat control switch. Follow the removal process in reverse while installing the new switch by tightening screws to 7 Nm (62 lb-in). The SRS system must receive its final power supply before returning the vehicle to the customer only after thoroughly checking for all system faults.
