How to service the Water Pump on a 2.3L engine on 2007 Mercury Mariner?

A 2.3L vehicle coolant pump service requires the transmission to be in neutral position on the hoist until positioning. The first step involves draining the cooling system followed by accessory drive belt removal. Unbolt and remove the coolant pump pulley using its three bolts and apply 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) torque when replacing it. First detach the coolant pump through three bolt removal and discard its previous O-ring seal. Apply engine coolant to the new O-ring before installing the pump while fastening it tightly to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). When finishing the installation complete the opposite steps which include reversing the removal actions to put in the pump followed by cooling system fill then bleeding.
