2007 Mercury Montego EGR Valve Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the EGR Valve System Module on 2007 Mercury Montego?
A: The service procedure for Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system module starts with removing four transaxle roll restrictor brace bolts followed by wire brush cleaning the bolts before applying new threadlock and tightening them to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft). Once you remove the bolt and the transaxle roll restrictor brace you need to clean both parts before applying fresh thread-lock for bolt tightening to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft). Begin service of the EGR system module by separating first the vacuum tube and electrical connector and then the EGR system module-to-EGR system module tube fitting which needs tightening to 40 Nm (30 lb ft) torque. The installation of the EGR system module requires a fresh gasket that has its raised ring position facing the intake manifold before the two securing bolts achieve a torque of 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). To finalize the installation reverse the steps used for removal.
